Jodi Beyer’s journey in the field of pharmacy began in a health occupations class during her junior year of high school when she discovered her passion for healthcare. When it came time to choose a college, Jodi found the perfect fit at NDSCS, which offered a pre-pharmacy program. This opportunity allowed her to live at home, work, and seamlessly transition before transferring to NDSU to earn her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. After graduating with her degree, Jodi started her professional career with Walgreens in the Twin Cities. However, shortly after, she returned home to Breckenridge to marry her husband and establish roots in her community.
For over 24 years, Jodi has proudly served as a pharmacist at Breckenridge Drug, where her commitment to patient care and community well-being shines through. Reflecting on her time at NDSCS, Jodi fondly recalls the camaraderie she shared with fellow students, particularly the time spent in the student center watching “Day of Our Lives” over lunch. The smaller class sizes fostered meaningful connections and friendships that have lasted a lifetime. If she could offer advice to her high school self, Jodi would urge herself to take full advantage of the local college experience before moving from home. She also emphasizes the value of dual-enrollment opportunities, recommending that high school students consider college courses for credit to ease their transition into higher education.
Jodi’s commitment to education has had a lasting impact not only on her own life but also on her three children. They, too, have embraced the opportunity to attend NDSCS, benefiting from the cost savings and the chance to begin their academic careers close to home. Her two eldest children enjoyed their time at NDSCS, forming friendships that have continued to grow, with one even celebrating the recent wedding of a classmate. Now, Jodi’s youngest son, Justin, is set to continue the family tradition at NDSCS alongside friends he’s had since kindergarten, while also having the potential to meet new lifelong friends. Grateful for the foundation that NDSCS provided, Jodi Beyer’s story is a testament to the power of education, community connection, and the enduring relationships that shape our lives. As she looks back on her journey, she remains thankful for the path that began at a small college, which ultimately prepared her for success at a larger university and in her career in pharmacy. Jodi's story is an inspiring reminder that the choices we make shape not only our lives but also those of future generations.
