NDSCS Alumnus, Steve Farden, wins prestigious industry award

Steve Farden, president of Farden Construction and a distinguished graduate of North Dakota State College of Science, received the prestigious John M. Agrey Award from the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) on October 12, 2023.

This award, UGPTI's highest honor, is bestowed upon individuals who demonstrate an exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, vision, and leadership within North Dakota's trucking and construction sectors.

Notable past recipients of this award include U.S. Senator Kent Conrad and U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, Steve McCormick, Sr. of Northern Improvement and Paul Diedrich of Industrial Builders.

Farden's educational foundation was laid at the North Dakota State College of Science, where he earned an associate of applied science degree in civil engineering and surveying technology in 1991. His innovative approach to the transportation and construction industry has been marked by a relentless commitment, drive, and determination to transform challenges into opportunities.

With a robust career spanning over four decades, Farden has held numerous pivotal roles in the construction industry, including those of laborer, equipment operator, field superintendent, and eventually ascending to vice president and president. Under his leadership, Farden Construction has evolved into a third-generation family business, now welcoming the involvement of the fourth generation in its operations. Farden's family has a long-standing legacy in the trucking industry, extending over 105 years.

Beyond his business accomplishments, Farden has actively contributed to the industry's development through his role as a past chair of the Associated General Contractors of North Dakota Heavy Municipal Board. He has also been involved in legislative processes, providing testimony at various North Dakota Legislative sessions on bills impacting the trucking industry.

Steve Farden, alongside his wife, Teralyn, and their two daughters, Lila and Samantha, continues to lead and inspire through his unwavering dedication to advancing the construction and trucking industries in North Dakota.
