Kim Nelson, Executive Director

Kim has been a part of the NDSCS Alumni/Foundation since 2002. She started as an Alumni Coordinator, moved to the Donor Development Manager position followed by the Major Gifts Officer and is now currently the Foundation's Executive Director.

Prior to joining NDSCS, Kim served as a Regional Manager for Midwest Vision Center for 10 years--traveling across North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa managing 43 optical stores. Before that, she founded and served as the Director of the St. John’s Childcare Center in Wahpeton as well as the NDSCS Childcare Center on campus. 

Kim’s passion for NDSCS has deepened tremendously over the years. Although she took an 18 month break working for Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota, she found her “true” passion to be NDSCS--the students, alumni and friends--bringing her back to campus in March of 2014.

Kim is a Wyndmere, N.D. native, a 1981 graduate from the University of Minnesota Crookston with a degree in family services and a 1987 graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead with an elementary education degree. She is married to Brian and together they have five grown children, six granddaughters and two grandsons. They live in Fergus Falls, Minn., where they own a trucking business.

Tim Neumann, Donor Development Manager

Tim joined the NDSCS Alumni/Foundation team as the Donor Development Manager in October of 2012. As the DDM, his first major area of focus is to grow the College, Foundation and Business Sponsorship /Partnership relationships. Tim's second objective is to successfully identify and develop relationships with those individuals who are capable of becoming major gift contributors to NDSCS. 

Tim began his professional career in 1985 as the Head Wrestling Coach at the University of Nebraska. During his 15 years at Nebraska his teams placed in the top 10 at the NCAA tournament eight times. The Husker wrestling team had 23 academic All-Americans, 39 Wrestling All-Americans and six National Champions during those years while posting a 98 percent graduation rate.

In 2000, Tim began a career in the Financial Services industry with Principal Financial Group. In 2004, he joined Community First Bank as a Financial Consultant and stayed with the bank after ownership changed to Bank of the West. In 2006, Tim became the Midwest and Great Plains region’s Advanced Planning Specialist for BOW. While working as the APS, he concentrated on Estate Planning and Business Succession planning for it's Financial Advisors top clients. Tim became a North Dakota resident after being named the Area Manager and Wahpeton Branch Manager for Bank of the West in 2008. In 2010, he was named to the BOW Presidents Club. Tim has been an NDSCS Foundation Board member since 2010 and a member of the Kinship Mentoring Board since 2009. 

Tim grew up in northeastern Wisconsin where he developed a fondness/passion for the Packers. He left Wisconsin in 1978 to attend the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1980 with a degree in Education and Coaching. Tim is married to Janet Neumann and together they enjoy seven children and eight grandchildren.

Barbara Uhlich, Donor Development Representative

Class of 1987

Barb has been employed with the Alumni/Foundation at NDSCS since 2009. As the Donor Development Representative, she is responsible for the Alumni/Foundation Annual Appeal. Barb manages communication with donors and segments the donor pipeline. Her objective is to get new donors to become Annual Donors, procuring gifts from $10 to $1,000. Barb organizes Scholarship Luncheons to bring together the student recipients with their Scholarship Donors. She also assists with the NDSCS DREAMS Auction.

Prior to joining NDSCS, Barb worked in the woodworking industry for 20 years. She was the Regional Marketing Manager at PrimeWood, Inc. in Wahpeton, N.D. and Customer Service Lead at Northern Contours in Fergus Falls, Minn. Barb managed kitchen and bath accounts, supplying price quotes, product drawings, purchase order entries and shipping arrangements. She also managed customer service representatives and supported sales and operation.     

Barb is from Powers Lake, N.D. and has lived in Wahpeton, N.D. for 25 years. She is a 1987 graduate of NDSCS with an Associate of Science degree in Stenographic Secretarial and Computer Operation. Barb and her husband, Will, live in Wahpeton with their two sons, Jacob and Tori. She enoys being back on campus and supporting the college through the Alumni/Foundation office.

Melissa Wynn, Donor Development Representative

Melissa joined the NDSCS Alumni/Foundation team as the Donor Development Representative in December 2014. Some of her responsibilities include donor gift entry, processing receipts and maintaining scholarships. Melissa also helps manage a comprehensive marketing calendar and assists with keeping the Alumni website up to date. She is excited to be a part of the NDSCS staff and support the "Science of Success!"

Melissa's prior professional experience includes working as Director of Program Services at the Fergus Falls YMCA and the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA. She was part of the management team and supervised program staff, managed program budgets, marketing efforts and special events. More recently, Melissa worked for the Wahpeton School District providing student educational and behavioral support and supervising the Peer Leadership Program. She currently serves on the Richland County 4-H Advisory Council and the Southeast Region Career/ Tech Ag Advisory Board.

Melissa hails from LaMoure, N.D., where she grew up on a farm with 11 other siblings. She graduated in 1987 from North Dakota State University with a degree in Corporate and Community Fitness. Melissa and her husband Dan live in Wahpeton. They enjoy following their three children, Molly, Matty and Charlie, in all their activities. She looks forward to meeting the many friends and alumni of NDSCS!

Denise Miller, Events Specialist

Denise recently joined the NDSCS Alumni/Foundation staff as an Event Specialist. She will help chair the DREAMS Auction Event and assist with other Foundation functions. Denise served on the DREAMS Steering Committee for 10 years and has chaired the Decorating Committee for the last three years.

Prior to joining NDSCS, Denise worked part-time for Wahpeton Public Schools as an Office Aide and Teacher Assistant. She continues her role as office manager for the property rental business she and her husband own in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area. Denise currently serves on the Breckenridge-Wahpeton Community Fund Board and volunteers at Bethel Church for the confirmation program.

Denise grew up in Goodrich, N.D. and graduated from Bismarck High School. She went to Bismarck State College and received a clerical degree and worked several years in the banking industry. After moving to Wahpeton, Denise furthered her education by earning an associate degree from NDSCS in Marketing and Management. She and her husband, Perry, live in Wahpeton and have three grown children: Courtland, Carson and Abby.
